What does the email validator check?

Three things: correct email format, whether the domain has DNS MX/A records that can receive mail, and whether the domain is a known disposable provider.

Is the email address I enter stored?

No. It's sent to our server only to perform the checks and is not saved. Don't enter addresses you wouldn't want transmitted.

Can it verify the mailbox actually exists?

No. It confirms the domain can receive mail, not that the specific inbox exists. Only sending (or a double opt-in) proves that.

Why was a real address flagged?

New domains, strict firewalls and greylisting can block DNS checks. If you're sure the address is right, trust your own data.
