Root Calculator Basics

Use this calculator to solve square roots, cube roots, nth roots, and powers without doing the exponent math manually.

For roots, the calculator uses x^(1 / n). For powers, it uses x^n. Negative numbers are supported for odd roots because those results are real numbers.

Square Roots

Enter degree 2 to find the square root. For example, the square root of 64 is 8.

Cube Roots

Enter degree 3 to find the cube root. For example, the cube root of 27 is 3.

nth Roots

Use any positive integer degree to calculate an nth root, such as a 4th root or 5th root.

Private Calculation

The calculation runs in your browser. Your input values are not sent to the server.
