Carousel Splitter
Cut a wide panorama into seamless swipeable slides, in posting order.
Upload a wide panorama and this page cuts it into swipeable slides that line up edge to edge when posted as a carousel. Pick the slide shape (Instagram portrait 4:5 is the default), pick how many slides, and the page works out the slice positions so the first slide starts at the left edge and the last slide ends at the right edge. Download the slides one by one or as a numbered ZIP, in posting order. Nothing is uploaded.
Instagram carousels allow up to 20 slides; this page caps at 10 so slices stay readable.
Honest limits. A seamless carousel only looks seamless if the source is wide enough: a slide at 4:5 from a 1350 pixel tall image is 1080 wide, so 3 slides need a source at least 3240 pixels wide before any scaling, and a narrow source upscaled to that width will look soft. Slices overlap when the panorama is not an exact multiple of the slide width, which is by design: the first slide starts at the left edge, the last ends at the right edge, and middle slides share strips so nothing is skipped. Vertical panoramas do not split into horizontal slides: the tool refuses images wider than tall by less than the slide count and says so, rather than producing stretched slices. Posting order is the numbered order in the ZIP; uploading out of order breaks the line.
How a seamless carousel actually works
A carousel post shows one slide at a time, and swiping moves to the next. When the slides are slices of one wide image, the right edge of slide 1 continues into the left edge of slide 2, so the swipe feels like panning across one picture instead of jumping between separate pictures. That only holds if the slices are taken from one image at one scale, with no gaps and no rescaling between slices, which is what this page does: every slide is cut from the same source at the same height, and the slice positions are spaced evenly from the left edge to the right edge.
The spacing maths is simple. A slide at 4:5 with a height of 1350 pixels is 1080 pixels wide. If the panorama is 5400 pixels wide and you ask for 5 slides, the step between slice starts is (5400 minus 1080) divided by (5 minus 1), which is 1080, so the slices are 0, 1080, 2160, 3240 and 4320, edge to edge with no overlap. If the panorama is 5000 pixels wide and you ask for 4 slides, the step is (5000 minus 1080) divided by 3, which is 1306.67, rounded to 1307, so neighbouring slides share a small strip and nothing in the middle is skipped. The last slide always ends exactly at the right edge, because the step is derived from the total width, not guessed.
Which shape to pick
Instagram feed carousels read best at 4:5 portrait, which fills the most phone screen, or 1:1 square for images that must also work elsewhere. 3:4 is the shape Instagram shows for covers posted from the app, and 9:16 is a story shape, not a feed carousel shape: a 9:16 carousel slide is very tall and narrow, so it suits tall panoramas only. LinkedIn document carousels upload as a PDF, not as image slices, so this page's slices are for image carousels on Instagram and similar feeds.
How wide is wide enough
Multiply slide width by slide count: 3 slides at 1080 wide need 3240 pixels of panorama width for edge-to-edge slices with no overlap, and 5 slides need 5400. A phone panorama is often 4000 to 8000 pixels wide, which covers 3 to 5 slides comfortably. Below the minimum, the page still splits but warns that slices overlap heavily, because overlapping slices repeat content and the pan effect weakens.
