Understanding Your Score
Your results are displayed using the overarching CEFR letters (A1-C2). However, they map directly to the official certification frameworks issued by Italian educational institutions:
- A1 (CILS A1 / CELI Impatto / PLIDA A1): Can understand highly familiar expressions. You know basic greetings, numbers, and how to introduce yourself.
- A2 (CILS A2 / CELI 1 / PLIDA A2): Can interact in routine situations. Often the minimum level required for Italian residency permits.
- B1 (CILS Uno / CELI 2 / PLIDA B1): Minimum requirement to apply for Italian citizenship via marriage or residence. You can deal with most daily friction.
- B2 (CILS Due / CELI 3 / PLIDA B2): The golden standard. Fluent enough to enroll in an Italian university or work in professional environments without a mediator.
- C1 (CILS Tre / CELI 4 / PLIDA C1): Can express complex business ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching.
- C2 (CILS Quattro / CELI 5 / PLIDA C2): Master level. You can effortlessly understand academic texts, literature, and nuanced cultural idioms.
