To-do Lists

Fast checklists that stay private on your device, with export when you need to move them.

A fast checklist that lives only on your device. Make as many lists as you like, add tasks with a priority and an optional due date, tick them off, and filter what is left. Lists are saved in your browser's local storage, so they are still there when you come back on the same device and browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is shared with anyone unless you export a list yourself.

Privacy note. Lists live in this browser only. Clearing your browser data, switching browser, or switching device loses them, so export a list you care about: the export downloads a JSON file you can keep or load back with the import box below.

Why a list that stays on your device

Most to-do apps ask for an account before you can write a single task, then sync your tasks to their servers. That is the right trade for a team that shares work, and the wrong trade for a shopping list or a personal errand list. A list that lives in your browser needs no account, no password and no sync, and it opens instantly. The price is honest and stated on the page: it lives on one device and one browser, and clearing browser data removes it.

The export covers that price. A list exported as JSON is a plain file you can keep, email to yourself, or load back into this page on another device. The format is simple on purpose: a list name and a set of tasks, each with its text, priority, due date and done state. No account, no lock-in, no format you need a special app to read.

A list that actually gets used

Keep each list short and concrete: a task is one action, not a project. Mark a task done the moment it is done, and clear completed tasks at the end of the day so the list stays a list of what is left, not a diary of what is finished. A list with fifty stale tasks stops being read.

What this list does not do

It does not send reminders, because a page that only runs while it is open cannot remind you later. Due dates are shown on the task and used for sorting the eye, not for alerts. If you need a reminder at a time, put the task in your calendar as well: this list is for keeping track, not for nagging.

Yes, on the same device and browser. Local storage persists across sessions. Clearing your browser data, switching browser, or switching device removes them, which is why the export button exists.
Yes, with export and import. Export downloads a JSON file. On the other device, paste that JSON into the import box and the list is recreated with its tasks, priorities, due dates and done states.
No. A web page that only runs while it is open cannot send reliable reminders. Due dates are shown on tasks for planning. For a timed reminder, add the task to your calendar as well.
As many as you like, within your browser's local storage limits, which are generous for plain text lists. Each list holds its own tasks, and you switch between lists with the dropdown.
The list and its tasks are removed from this browser at once, with no undo. Export first if the list matters.
